Timberline Baptist Church

Preaching Services — The Word of God is the main emphasis. We believe and preach from only the old King James. (This is mentioned in our doctrinal statement.) We avoid formal worship services and maintain an old-fashioned emphasis. We sing from an old-fashioned hymn book and use no contemporary Christian music for any reason. Invitations are given at the end of every preaching service, and God’s people are encouraged to respond.

Children’s Church — Our Childrens’ Church Program is very well organized. The children, kindergarten – 3rd grade, are taught character lessons, special childrens’ songs, hymns, Bible stories, and every week they hear a sermon on their level from one of our Childrens’ Church preachers. The messages brought to the children are based on the Sunday School lesson taught that day in class. Repetition is the key to learning!

Sunday School — Every class, from the Nursery to the Adult Auditorium class, is taught the same lesson. Each teacher takes the lesson material provided for them from the pastor and gears it to the age level of his/her class. No boy is taught by a lady teacher once he is in the 1st grade. Women teach the girls; men teach the boys.

Special Meetings — Every year, special speakers are invited to preach. These meetings include revival meetings and missions conferences.

Missionary Speakers — From time to time, guest missionaries will pass through and share their field of calling with the Timberline Baptist Church family.

Timberline Baptist Church has a fun, exciting and inspirational family ministry:
Family Development — Sermon content from the pulpit is geared to the specific needs of the church family. Sometimes that includes preaching on the family, child rearing, discipline, education, and etc. The pastor is available for counselling as the need arises.

Youth Department — Timberline Baptist Church is in the process of building a strong youth department. Pastor Parton was a youth pastor for 8 1/2 years and served as an assistant pastor working with youth related ministries for a total of 11 years before becoming the pastor of Timberline Baptist Church. He serves as the pastor as well as the youth director! (The best of both worlds!)

Timberline Baptist Academy — Timberline Baptist Academy is an educational ministry of TBC. Curriculum: Landmark’s Freedom Baptist Curriculum, A Beka reading in the lower grades, Saxon Math, and Bible. Scripture memorization is heavily emphasized. K-12 is available. TBA is currently using this curriculum in a home-school setting.

Mother/Daughter Teas — Our ladies have a Tea each year the Saturday before Mother’s Day. Instead of having a banquet, we have a Tea/Luncheon with special things for mothers and daughters. There is always a special speaker including the pastor’s wife.

Father/Son Steakouts and Campouts — Guys don’t do banquets like ladies do! We have a giant cookout & campout every year the Friday and Saturday before Father’s Day. Steak, BBQ chicken, beans, ‘tater salad, hominy, chips, and more (just “guy” food). No bird food here!

About danparton

Dan is a 1979 graduate of Hyles-Anderson College, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Pastoral Theology. During his time at Hyles-Anderson College, he was honored with the Elmer Lord Scholarship Award and was named to “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.” Upon graduation, He and his wife Robin (married on June 9, 1978) started into full-time service. Working for eleven years, he found his calling in a local church as a youth pastor and assistant pastor. Serving for eight and a half years with the youth, he finished out his time as assistant pastor. God called him to become the lead pastor of the Timberline Baptist Church in Woodland Park, Colorado, on Fathers’ Day, 1990. TBC relocated to Manitou Springs, Colorado, in August, 1994. Hailing from Harriman, Tennessee, he was born on October 16, 1955. He was saved at the age of eight on February 16, 1964, at Faith Baptist Church, now called Heather Hills Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was during the Billy Kellough (pronounced Kellogg) evangelistic meetings that a deacon named Ben Conrad (now in Heaven) led him to Christ. He was then baptized by immersion on April 5 the same year. On February 9, 1973, Brother Parton surrendered his life to serve the Lord in any capacity. He graduated from Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, in June of 1974. He was licensed to preach by the First Baptist Church of Hammond, on May 19, 1978, and ordained to the Gospel ministry by the First Baptist Church of Hammond, on May 25, 1979. The Partons have been serving the Lord at the Timberline Baptist Church for more than 20 years. They have four children: Jonathan, Cyndi, David, and Jack. Jonathan, Cyndi, and David are graduates of Hyles-Anderson, and Jack is a senior this year at Hyles Anderson. Timberline Baptist Church, located at the foot of Pike’s Peak, is an independent, fundamental, soul-winning, Baptist church and is known as “The Church With a Heart for the Pike’s Peak Region!”
