Hundreds of worshippers attended Dripping Spring Baptist Church in rural Olmstead, Ky., to hear a sermon from Fred Luter, the first African American to lead the Southern Baptist Convention. Among worshippers were a 75-year-old grandmother who rushed to make the service with her two great-granddaughters in tow, and an 83-year-old visitor who expressed his admiration of the exuberance he said blacks embody in worshipping the Lord.
